FIFA U17 FWC TEAMS OVERVIEW : SOUTH AFRICA , SPAIN , URUGUAY AND USA

SOUTH AFRICA
SOUTH AFRICA
South Africa competed in the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup for the first time at Trinidad and Tobago 2010, where they lost all three of their group matches. Uruguay 2018 represents their second qualification for the world finals at this level.
South Africa started their qualifying journey with a 5-2 win over Botswana in Lobatse and followed that up with a rollercoaster 6-4 victory in Johannesburg. The goals continued to flow when they defeated Morocco 5-1 in the first leg of the second round. In the return leg in Sale, Morocco, they put up a more modest 1-0 result, but more importantly, it was enough to seal Bantwana's place at Uruguay 2018.
The coach: SIMPHIWE DLUDLU
Former national team captain Simphiwe Dludlu is in charge of the U-17 women's side. Dludlu, who is also a motivational speaker, is the first former player of South Africa's women's senior team to lead her country at a World Cup. After securing qualification to Uruguay 2018, she said: "So, as a team, it's not just a milestone that we've achieved. We are excited about the growth of women's football in the country. We are excited by the interest that will be sparked by us qualifying - to that young girl out there that wants to play football, that doesn't believe she can have a career or can dream of kicking a ball as a girl." Simphiwe Dludlu is a South African football defender. She plays for Mamelodi Sundowns and formerly for the South Africa women's national football team. She is also the coach of the University of Pretoria women's football team.

SPAIN
SPAIN
In their three previous appearances in the competition, Spain finished on the podium every time. After kicking off with a third place in 2010, they finished runners-up at Costa Rica 2014 and took third again two years later. Can they finally take that step to the top of the podium in Uruguay?
La Rojita head to Uruguay 2018 as UEFA Women’s Under-17 champions and with a solid side featuring some of the veterans of their third-place finish at Jordan 2016, among them forwards Eva Navarro and Claudia Pina and goalkeeper Catalina Coll. They began the European qualifiers with a 22-0 victory over Montenegro and went on to record a draw and four wins in the final phase, including a 2-0 defeat of Germany in the final.
The coach
Tona Is boasts lots of experience at this level, having become the first woman to take charge of a Spanish national team when she was appointed to the job two years ago. A staunch advocate of an attractive, possession-based style of play, she was in the hotseat when La Rojita finished third in Jordan two years ago.

URUGUAY
URUGUAY
Tournament hosts Uruguay will be taking part in their second world finals in the age group. La Celeste’s only previous appearance came at Azerbaijan 2012, where they failed to collect any points in the group phase and finished 14th out of the 16 teams.
Their place assured at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Uruguay 2018 as the hosts, Uruguay continued their preparations for the big event by taking part in the U-17 Women’s South American Championships, and with promising results too. Unbeaten in their group courtesy of a goalless draw with Venezuela and defeats of Bolivia, Paraguay and Chile, the Uruguayans began the final four-team phase by registering their first ever win over Brazil. They then lost 2-0 to the Venezuelans and drew 1-1 with Colombia to end the competition in third place.
The coach: ARIEL  LONGO
A former midfielder who plied his trade in the 1970s and 80s, Ariel Longo started out as a coach in 1996 and promptly found work in China PR and then Guatemala, where he won a number of club titles. He returned to Uruguay in 2015, taking charge of the national U-20 women’s team. He took on the U-17s job in 2016 before becoming the coordinator and head coach of all the country’s women’s teams a year later.

UNITED STATES
USA
USA have qualified for the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup three times (2008, 2012 and 2016), with their best performance at the global finals coming in the inaugural edition at New Zealand 2008, where they finished as runners-up. In their other two appearances, they failed to advance past the group stage.
The Stars and Stripes will compete in Uruguay as CONCACAF champions. USA booked their place at Uruguay 2018 after defeating Haiti 3-2 in the semi-finals of the CONCACAF Women's Under-17 Championship, before going on to beat Mexico 3-2 in the final to claim their fourth continental championship.
The coach: MARK CARR
Mark Carr has worked as a coach developing USA's women's youth programmes since November 2014. The 39-year-old previously was coach of the U-15 side before taking up the role with the U-17 team. The London-born Carr is very familiar with this group of players, having led some of them to the CONCACAF U-15 Girls' Championship in 2016.
